The Classicist is an annual, peer-reviewed journal鈥痙edicated to the classical tradition in architecture and the allied arts. Featuring professional and student portfolios as well as academic articles authored by leaders in the field, this beautiful, color-illustrated journal serves as a forum for contemporary, classical practice as well as a source of inspiration and information for students, practitioners, teachers, patrons, and enthusiasts.
The latest volume, the Classicist No. 21, is focused specifically on Northern California. This issue continues the tradition of exploring the history and influences of classical architecture within a specific region, highlighting the architects of both yesterday and today that have contributed to its unique architectural identity.

Please note that projects submitted for consideration for the Classicist No. 22 Professional Portfolio must be architecture, newly built in Ohio in the last 10 years. The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2025. Submissions for the Academic Portfolio must be completed in the 2024-2025 academic year, but are not region-specific. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2025.
